First impressions are undoubtedly very important. I mean, I find myself in a career where I need to go into the classroom with confidence and a glowing attitude or else my students will walk all over me and take advantage. And God only knows that I don’t want to be a doormat again (this ain’t London). I know that in a classroom, it’s not about being aggressive, rather assertive . That is the first impression I want to be able to depict to my students right from the get-go. Because let’s be honest, I still feel like a little girl (thank you petite-ness). Any important situation whether we’re at an interview, at a party or meeting our work team, the first impressions are so important and most of the times spot-on. No, I'm not talking about the things that hang in your house over your dinner table and in the washrooms. I'm talking about the artist called Lights. Her real name is Valerie something...but Lights definetely suits her image. I first heard her on the radio when she released her first single "Drive my soul". I thought to myself, who is this cute singer, because her voice is kind of kiddish and cute but pleasing to the ears at the same time. I loved that song hence it would always be playing on my ipod when i went out for bike rides. And i used to do that a lot last summer and the summer before that. Now, i can't seem to fit something as little as a bike ride into my scedule or maybe it's not the same anymore. Cuz I'm definetely not the person i was last summer. But this post is about Lights, not about my sad life story ;P Anywho, her latest single is "Second Go" and might i add that her video for that song is definetely artistic. She's basically splashing paint everywhere in a white house. Yeah, it sort of gets annoying because the camera keeps shaking and if you focus on the shaking, you'll give yourself a headache. But it is creative indeed. I like her other songs as well from her latest album. I saw her on you-tube where she streams herself live sometimes. You'd think by listening to her voice that it's been majorly edited to sound the way it does. But NO! she sounds almost the same when she's singing live which just adds more credibility to her as an artist. The unforunate thing is that she hasn't really made it to the billboard charts yet. But she definetely has potential. She's creative in her own unique way and i think if more people start listening to her, she'll become really popular. So guys, support Lights and listen to her music! She's an amazing artist and we need more of those in this music industry!
