Same old story, same old dance
Some people in this world have the unfortunate fate of living in a certain pattern their whole lives. It's as if they're stuck and they never get a chance to properly grow up. I look out the window on a rainy day, and it makes me sad, because i realize, i'm one of those people. I will never get a chance to truly be independent like other people get at this age. I won't get a chance to experience my teenage years like other people might. Why, because of my damn culture. Culture and religion, these things that bind us for life. To weird traditions, rituals and choices that are supposed to lead us to the right path. This right path is VERY subjective. Of course everyone should have some sort of morals to keep themselves grounded in this life. But who on earth would keep anyone from experiencing the real world? I have never understood this at all. Yeah, there are people in this world who prefer to be home-bodies and stay at home and watch movies or something...which is fine (or w.e) but you can't forget about the other people in this world who wish to explore the world! Those people who wish to be left on their own for a while and not have to answer to anyone. All these people want are experiences, even if it's only one time. What is the harm in this?! Now, I'm not saying that everyone should drink, smoke and have sex. I just want to be on my own for a bit. I've had so many days where i really don't even want to go home because i wish to be alone! And you can't even be alone in your room? Because someone from downstairs is always asking you about something...And you don't wanna be rude but you also don't wanna answer to them. This world is VERY POORLY DESIGNED for females who come from brown family backgrounds. All these expectations they must live up to, all the lack of experience they get when guys can do whatever. It truly sucks. Like for example, if you're a brown girl and you're recently married to a brown guy and you guys both realize you're not meant to be together, what are you supposed to do? Obviously you both get a divorce but who suffers in the end? THE GIRL of course. She gets the bad name which makes it really hard for her to get married again. The guy can have as many wives as he wishes (polygamy is another issue that'll be discussed some other time). I feel like brown girls have the shorter end of the stick. If a brown girl is not as innocent as her guy counterpart, the guy will have a hard time adjusting because the idea of his girl having done those things doesn't sit well with him. but girls just have to take a deep breath and accept him. double standards much? This is deff a man's world. I wish it was more just for brown girls, but it's not and we just have no choice but to live with it.
